Comments/Suggestions

Welcome

This site features advanced modifications you can make to customize Squarespace Journal pages within your site. While we do not provide custom programming support, we've assembled this site as a reference to help you get started.

Hanging Date

With this purpose in mind, Squarespace has special hidden containers around your posts.

The code (you can copy-paste the comments and all into your Custom CSS):

/* Unhide floating date containers */
.journal-entry-float-date,
  .journal-entry-float-date span {
  display: block;
  }

/* Style Date Tag, push tag left with negative margin */
.journal-entry-float-date {
  float: left;
  padding: 13px;
  background: #222;
  color: #fff;
  margin-left: -80px;
  text-align: center;
  }

/* push journal entries left to make gutter */
.journal-entry {
  margin-left: 80px;
  }

/* Text styles and some spacing tweaks */
.journal-entry-float-date .month {
  font-size: 28px;
  display: block;
  margin-bottom: 5px;
  margin-top: 5px;
  }
.journal-entry-float-date .date {
  font-size: 14px;
  text-transform: uppercase;
  }
